Our Impact

At Dramawerkz, impact isn’t something we measure about young people, it’s something they tell us in their own words.
Every rehearsal, workshop, and performance is shaped by lived experience, care, and connection, as our young people build peer connections, have fun together, and collaborate on shared projects. What happens in the room doesn’t stay there: confidence grows, voices strengthen, and young people begin to see themselves differently. That’s the impact they take into the world around them.

Dramawerkz has a proven track record of supporting young people, in both the easy and tough times. We’ve supported several participants experiencing school refusal to reengage with education or employment, and we’ve been a safe landing space for young people struggling with bullying at school. We’ve also guided students through the audition process for professional drama schools, seeing past participants into enrolment at the VCA, The Melbourne Conservatorium, University of Melbourne, and Monash University. No matter what our young people pursue vocationally, what’s most important to us is that they grow as young people: pursuing their goals, feeling confident, and building a strong community around them!

Below, you can see how our community - young people, their families and loved ones - reflect on our programs. Their reflections speak to belonging, courage, creativity, and the quiet transformations that happen when people are genuinely listened to.

Youth doing amazing things; always thrilled to attend their performances. Still gives me chills thinking back to Acknowledgement of Country the group start a show with a couple of years ago. Wow.
Going from strength to strength under leadership of Mia.

Having our own space every week to have fun, learn new things, and make new friends while doing what I loved was so indescribably life changing for me and is something I believe every young person should have.

Mia is inclusive and has adapted to my sons needs and medical condition.
Over the years, Mia successfully incorporated her own tools which kept my son engaged and focused, in addition to recommendations from his specialist reports. The skills learnt from Mia has transferred to his academic studies at high school where he’s also achieving great results.
